Where is Jai Paul?

Jai (pronounced Jay) Paul is a producer, singer and songwriter from the UK. In 2011 he released the song demo “BTSTU” (Back to Save the Universe) on his Myspace page, which received numerous plays on the radio in the UK and gained a lot of coverage in the blogs. An edited version of “BTSTU” entitled “BTSTU (Edit)” was officially released on April 21, 2011, via an independent record label. The song received airplay again on UK national radio and was critically acclaimed.

In 2012, Paul uploaded a new demo titled “Jasmine (demo)” to his official SoundCloud page, subsequently receiving an official release via his record label. “Jasmine (demo)“ received positive reviews; it was also featured in the Grand Theft Auto 5 video game.

In 2013, an unknown user uploaded a number of untitled tracks to Bandcamp, a music streaming and purchasing service that caters mainly for independent artists (artists without a record label). These untitled tracks were made available for sale as an album. It has been said that the laptop belonging to Paul was stolen and the songs were leaked online. There are moments when the album sounds distinctly unfinished; silence at the end of the tracks, mixing of the vocals sounds bad, and the skits. The album was never released.

In 2016, Jai and his brother A.K. Paul announced a new project titled Paul Institute. Jai Paul still produces for other artists. It seems that he isn’t intentionally mysterious; he just wants to make music and stay out of the public eye.
